Learn More About Each Condition
"You can't solve the problem until you know what the problem is, so defining the issue helps immensely," — Bergina Isbell, M.D., Board-Certified Psychiatrist.
People often feel sad in response to a difficult situation or bad news. But determining whether it's just the blues over a disappointment, grief over a lost loved one, or clinical depression can affect the approach to your care. The first step is finding out more about what is bothering you, your friend, or a loved one. Clinical depression is a group of symptoms that include problems with mood, interest level, appetite, concentration, and negative thoughts. If it is clinical depression, educating yourself is important for treatment.
A wise professor said that depression is cancer of the soul. It hijacks what is normally supposed to work and turns it against the body and the mind. But the body is proficient at healing itself — and there is a cure for cancer of the soul. Just like in cancer care, early diagnosis has the best chances for successful treatment and remission of illness. Patients require customized treatment and premier quality attention while addressing the biological, psychological, and social influences that affect their lifestyle. Dr. Bergina is the bestselling author of Victory Over Depression: With and Without Medicines. Along with her team, she utilizes a variety of traditional and alternative treatments for care — from essential oils and supplements to Spravato and Ketamine.
Anxiety. We've all experienced it. Whether it is being anxious before a big meeting or worrying about balancing your finances, anxiety symptoms are a common occurrence. But the feeling of anxiety can be part of a normal physiological response or an indicator of something more serious. Most people have heard of the fight, flight, or freeze response. When presented with a threat, your body naturally releases hormones to help you stay safe.
Stress is commonly thought of as all bad, but it's not. Eustress, or good stress, helps us grow. Distress, or bad stress, is what we usually talk about when we think of stress. Stress can lead to anxious states and is often related to things like our job, family, or friends. Under normal circumstances, after a threat or worry has passed, stress hormones decrease and our body is able to return to baseline.
Unfortunately, that normal response can be disrupted, and people can experience symptoms of anxiety where there is minimal or no threat. Anxiety disorders, which include a constellation of physical and mental symptoms, may require treatment — but first, knowing more about the type of disorder is key. Some medications and alternative treatments are good for some forms of anxiety but not others, and the duration and length of treatment may also vary. Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder all require slightly different treatment strategies.
Led Life, LLC provides comprehensive assessments so you know which type of condition you are dealing with, and you are then instrumental in selecting the options that work best for you — so you can move forward with life confident in your future.
Most people have heard of the fight, flight, or freeze response. When presented with a minor trauma, your body naturally releases hormones to help you stay safe. Under normal circumstances, after a threat or trauma has passed, stress hormones decrease and our body is able to return to baseline. Unfortunately, that normal response can be disrupted, and people can experience repeated small traumas, or microtrauma, or larger trauma. Some people will then experience physiological symptoms of intrusive thoughts, avoidance behaviors, and arousal symptoms when there is minimal or no threat. These symptoms can indicate Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), now known as a Stress Related Disorder.
Our team of specialists are trained in providing Trauma-Informed care and specialize in working with business owners and special needs populations. In a healthcare system that reduces people to diagnostic codes and billing units, we listen without labeling our patients. We provide care for the whole person and help patients make informed decisions about their life choices in a welcoming and confidential manner.
More than one survey has shown that when professionals and caregivers are asked if they would still have made the decision to go into their respective field, many state they would not have gone this route. Burnout is at an all-time high, as are the self-destructive patterns that make burnout worse. Although primary prevention that reduces common stress — like caregiver or workplace stress — may be optimal, many people struggle with burnout without realizing it.
At Led Life we often assess and treat features of burnout. Patients and clients have shared that taking a pause to reclaim what is most important to them, as well as staying clear on their calling, allows them to care for themselves and support them in being better caregivers for others.
Led Life is a concierge outpatient mental health practice with a Lifestyle Medicine focus, providing personalized medicine and alternative wellness options via both in-person and online telehealth platforms. Many people have difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or with early morning awakening — often due to anxieties and worries. One of the main reasons we receive referrals is due to difficulties with sleep in the context of anxiety disorders. We conduct a Sleep Hygiene assessment, encourage proper sleep hygiene, and if needed, discuss Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia. Just as you take care of your physical body with bathing, combing your hair, and brushing your teeth, proper sleep hygiene is also necessary — things like keeping electronics out of the bedroom, setting a regular bedtime, and making sure neither your mind nor your stomach is overfull. If prescription medications are needed, we begin with natural remedies or medications based on what your body already makes.
Led Life, LLC utilizes treatment options that work with your body's natural rhythm.
Suffering is part of the human condition and is never desirable, but there are lessons that can be learned from it. It can be used to develop resilience and coping skills for dealing with future situations, and it can actually tell us more about how the brain works.
Sometimes we cannot see as clearly as we would like, or our vision has been tainted by the mundane cares of life. Maybe you feel the vision you had for your life or business has died. You can go through a vision check, diagnose the problem, and utilize corrective lenses to see clearly what is in store for you.
